There’s something to be said for premium channels. Though regular cable television is filled to the brim with awesome, addictive shows, there’s always something special about shows that air exclusively on premium channels.

It’s for a good reason, too. If you think about it, the quality of shows should be higher since you are paying a premium to watch them, right?

But it can be difficult to make your way through the fuss and hype of certain tv shows to find the ones that are truly worth watching. Although everyone and their moms seem to know about the most common answers -- Game of Thrones, for example -- there are plenty of shows on premium channels that are severely underrated.

If you are on the hunt for something to binge watch and become addicted to, look no further. We’ve rounded up six of our favorite television shows on premium channels and we are going to tell you everything that you need to know about them.

The Handmaid’s Tale

This Hulu drama starring Alexis Bledel proves that Rory Gilmore has definitely grown up.

Taking place in the totalitarian society of Gilead, this television show focuses on a handmaiden who was enslaved with the task of providing a child for a Commander and his wife.

She then seeks out the daughter that was taken from her in an addictive drama that you undoubtedly won’t be able to stop watching.

The Leftovers

Imagine for a moment that 140 million people disappeared into thin air. This event is the start of The Leftovers, an HBO original series starring Justin Theroux.

Following the “Sudden Departure”, or the inexplicable, simultaneous disappearance of 2% of the world’s population, things begin to go downhill. Religion faces a deep decline and cults begin to emerge, causing chaos and turmoil.

Master of None

If there’s one thing that Netflix is great at, it’s providing people with shows to binge watch. After all, it is part of what makes them so addictive.

Master of None, a comedy-drama starring Aziz Ansari, is no exception. The show follows Dev, a 30-something “actor” whose main claim to fame is a GoGurt commercial.

Throughout the series, viewers will become captivated by Dev, his romantic entanglements, and the life he is slowly but surely building for himself.

Veep

If you’ve ever found yourself wondering what Elaine from Seinfeld is doing with her life, you may be surprised to know that she is the vice president of the United States in the early seasons of Veep.

This political satire show is downright hilarious and equally addictive, so you’ll have no problem breezing through all 6 seasons of this HBO Original.

Arguably the best part is that you get to see Anna Chlumsky (you remember her from My Girl, right?) as an adult, which is mind blowing in and of itself.

Silicon Valley

Let’s face it: HBO knows how to make good tv shows and Silicon Valley is no different. This comedy television series created by Mike Judge focuses on a shy programmer named Hendricks who works for a large internet company called Hooli who goes on to launch his own startup and the resulting turmoil.

There are currently four seasons and 36 episodes total, which means that viewers can still easily get caught up.

Twin Peaks

Revivals are all the rage these days, so it was no surprise to anyone when this Sci-Fi tv show with a massive cult following returned to Showtime after its 1991 departure. The show focuses on FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper, who returns to Twin Peaks, Washington after being away for 25 years.
