Hollywood stars are mostly known for their acting, but they’re also important fashionistas. Observe any red carpet event and you’ll immediately take note of the stunning gowns on display from a host of female actors. To that end, we’ll take a stroll down memory lane and recall some of the best costumes in recent years.
Versace on Kate Hudson
Kate Garry Hudson is one of Hollywood’s more noteworthy 30-something actors who rose to fame at the beginning of the century when she played Penny Lane in “Almost Famous.” The starlet is the daughter of Bill Hudson and Goldie Hawn, and lent her voice to Mei Mei in “Kung Fu Panda 3,” being released this year.
At the 75th annual Academy Awards Kate Hudson strutted forth in a stunning Versace gown composed of gold lace. That dress along with her trim figure and long flowing hair won the hearts of critics and fans alike.
Dolce & Gabbana on Jessica Alba
Life has been very good for actor and model Jessica Alba. As a teen, she had prominent roles in “The Secret World of Alex Mack” and “Camp Nowhere.” Later, we saw her in “Into the Blue” and “Good Luck Chuck.” In more recent years she co-founded “The Honest Company,” a producer of non-toxic household products.
It was at the 58th International Cannes Film Festival in Cannes, where Alba showed us her beautiful form wrapped in a sparkling Dolce & Gabbana dress. We all knew Alba was pretty, but her dress accentuated every curve and nook of her body like nothing else.
Chanel on Sarah Jessica Parker
When you become known for your starring role in “Sex and the City,” as Sarah Jessica Parker has, anything you do after that is often colored. Her latest production has Parker playing Maggie in “All Roads Lead to Rome,” where she plays a mother who tries to reconnect with her teenage daughter and along the way rekindles an old romance.
At the 55th Annual Emmy Awards, Parker wore a Chanel dress that simply knocked the socks off of critics. Described as “cotton candy” or a “pink meringue soufflé,” Parker’s gown amplified her cheery persona — not that the affable Parker ever needs assistance with that!
Donna Karan on Joy Bryant
Actor Joy Bryant is known for having played Jasmine in the NBC hit show, “Parenthood.” We also loved seeing Bryant in her roles as Neve Tatum in “Hit and Run” and as Debbie Sullivan in “About Last Night.”
Where Bryant best shines is any place where a spotlight shines on her. That fact became even more evident at “The Skeleton Key” premiere in 2005 as she showed up wearing a bright orange Donna Karan dress. That dress accentuated every curve on her beautiful brown body with her waist especially amplified. Not everyone before and since can claim to wear Donna Karan as well as Bryant has.
